Abstract
Prolonged photoplethysmographic (PPG) recording of cerebral signals in awake laboratory mice is complicated by insufficient sensor–tissue contact and motion artifacts. This study aimed to develop a detachable magnetic platform for reproducible positioning of a dual-wavelength module on the animal’s head and to perform a preliminary assessment of the recorded signal quality. A group of male mice was studied. Optical signals in the red and infrared channels were recorded during recovery from anesthesia and in the awake state. Variations in cerebral pulse-wave frequency were analyzed during the recovery period. These findings demonstrate the technical feasibility of prolonged acquisition of periodic optical signals.
