Investigation of the Optical Properties of Rat Cholangiocarcinoma Tissue Using Upconversion Nanoparticles

Abstract

The work is devoted to the study of the optical properties of rat cholangiocarcinoma using upconversion nanoparticles. The aim of the work is to verify the hypothesis that the introduction of upconversion nanoparticles into cholangiocarcinoma tissue significantly changes its optical characteristics, making it possible to use deep‑infrared excitation. The study was conducted on a model of alveolar liver cancer tumors in laboratory rats. The work highlights the key role of the submicron complex in enhancing the therapeutic effect. Comparison with control samples irradiated without nanoparticles shows that it is the combination of agents that ensures the maximum change in the optical properties of the tissue. These findings confirm the potential of using UPCNPs for PDT to improve the therapeutic effectiveness of anticancer treatment.
