Abstract

Bandpass filters are widely used in satellite and terrestrial communication systems. One of the main challenges in the development of such devices is to ensure high frequency selectivity while maintaining low insertion loss and small dimensions. This problem is particularly pronounced in the case of filters intended for use in onboard multiplexers and demultiplexers.

This paper presents the results of the development and investigation of highly selective compact sixth-order bandpass filters. At the circuit theory level, an analysis of the frequency characteristics of bandpass filters with different numbers of cross-couplings was carried out. Taking into account the obtained results, a Ka-band filter in a WR-51 waveguide channel, having two cross-couplings in the form of irises, was developed and numerically investigated. To improve manufacturability and simplify filter tuning, the tuning screws are located on the narrow-wall side of the waveguide channel. It is shown that the proposed structure can be used as part of onboard multiplexers.

The obtained results can be used in the design of radio-signal filtering and multiplexing devices.
