Oxidized Polypropylene-Derived Water-Soluble Fluorescent Oligomers as Model Nonconventional Luminophores for Optical Bioanalysis

Abstract

Water-soluble fluorescent oligomers were obtained by short-term oxidative degradation of polypropylene in a water/O₂ system under pressure. The resulting non-aromatic oxidized oligomers contain oxygen-rich functional groups and exhibit excitation-dependent blue–green fluorescence, making them promising model nonconventional luminophores for optical bioanalysis and biomedical fluorescence studies.
