Abstract

The spectral behavior of chromium picolinate was investigated to elucidate the influence of polymorphic modification on its vibrational properties. Density-functional calculations using the B3LYP functional were performed to optimize molecular geometry and predict vibrational frequencies. These theoretical frequencies were then compared with experimental spectra obtained from infrared measurements of different polymorphic forms. The calculated frequencies show good agreement with the experimental data, enabling confident assignment of characteristic bands and revealing subtle shifts associated with structural rearrangements. The results provide insight into the relationship between crystal packing, bonding environment, and spectral response, offering a basis for reliable identification and quality control of chromium picolinate polymorphs.
