Sensing mechanisms of luminescent metal nanoclusters
Alexei I. Kononov, Saint Petersburg State University, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Abstract
Luminescent metal nanoclusters have gained prominence as molecular sensors due to their unique optical and electronic properties. Luminescent properties are highly tunable by controlling the size of the metal core and the surface ligands. Interaction with the target analyte typically involves changes in luminescence signal. Various sensing mechanisms will be reviewed, including aggregation-induced emission/quenching, fluorescence resonance energy transfer and others.
