Episodes of the history of scientific research at Saratov State University

Abstract

In the late 1930s, scientific directions in the field of physics, mathematics and mechanics and physics had been formed at Saratov University in the following specialties: theoretical physics, radiophysics, physics of semiconductors, theory of functions and differential geometry, theory of elasticity and aerodynamics. In 1937, a research institute was formed at the university, containing the corresponding scientific departments. The grand opening of the Research Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Physics took place on May 20, 1937 at 9 o'clock in the evening in the Large Physics Auditorium of the III academic building of SSU (then it was called the M. Gorky Auditorium). The report tells about the university scientists of the pre-war and war years.
