Modeling of the propagation of adiabatic waveguide mode in a smooth waveguides

Abstract

The work considers a model of adiabatic waveguide modes applied to irregular waveguides. Within the framework of the model, the solution of the system of Maxwell equations is reduced to a form that is expressed through the solution of a system of four ordinary differential equations and two algebraic equations for six components of the electromagnetic field. In the case of multilayer waveguides, the model equations are reduced to a homogeneous system of linear algebraic equations, which can be studied symbolically or numerically. The condition of non-trivial solvability of the system defines the dispersion equation, which is solved by the symbolic-numerical method. The paper presents solutions describing adiabatic waveguide modes.
