Abstract
Circular dichroism for non-contact diagnostics of solutions of glutamic acid isomers
The method of optical dichroism has been applied to study solutions of glutamic acid isomers. Controlled phase compensators based on anisotropic crystals have been designed and created to produce circularly polarized radiation. The circular dichroism spectra of aqueous solutions of L, D, and LD isomers of glutamic acid were investigated at various degrees of PH.
Linear dependences of the difference between the molar absorption coefficients for right and left polarized light on the concentration of solutions made it possible to use them for the quantitative content of amino acids in preparations. The sign of the maximum value of the difference absorption made it possible to determine the type of isomer in solution. The experimental data are in good agreement with the results of numerical modeling.
The presented results can be used for express analysis of the quality of drugs containing glutamic acid.
