Abstract
The main stages of the scientific path and achievements of the academician of the International Academy of Information, Information Processes and Technologies, corresponding member of the Belarus National Academy of Sciences, A.D. Zakrevsky are outlined in the report. He is the largest cyberneticist who stood at the origins of this science in the USSR, the founder of the logical design world school. Zakrevsky successfully combined interdisciplinarity and pure mathematics in his research. His contribution to the combinatorial problems of discrete analysis and the logical foundations of artificial intelligence systems, in particular, in the application to the pattern recognition theory in the space of binary and multivalued features, is given special attention. It is noted that the test approach in pattern recognition at the medical diagnostics tasks is largely based on the results of Zakrevsky's research.
