Abstract

The dynamics of a laser with periodically modulated parameter and an external signal is studied numerically. The signal is the sum of the harmonic and noise components. To determine the presence of a harmonic component, as well as to determine its amplitude in a highly noisy signal, is the main task of the study. The simulation was carried out with parameters close to the attractor crisis, so that a slight increase in the amplitude of the periodic modulation leads to significant changes in the laser dynamics. It is shown that the noise component of the signal does not lead to qualitative changes in the dynamics. Thus, if there is a harmonic component in the signal, then we will see not just noise in the laser dynamics, but a transition to a fundamentally different dynamic mode. The amplitude of the harmonic component of a noisy signal can be determined by gradually decreasing the modulation amplitude until the laser returns to its original dynamic mode.
