Abstract

The bonding of biological tissues using laser radiation is one of the promising and actively developing areas of modern medicine [1]. Laser action can be useful when bonding thin biotissues and is able to form a waterproof suture almost instantly, which is extremely important for a wide range of surgical procedures, including microsurgery, dentistry, cosmetology, etc. The method of laser bonding (welding, soldering) of biological tissues with an inflammatory reaction, less time of postoperative rehabilitation and better cosmetic effect [2]. For laser bonding of biological tissues, the possibility of using near-IR and IR laser radiation is usually investigated.

The aim of current investigation is an in vitro study of influence of the energetical parameters of 980 nm diode laser radiation on the tensile strength of biological tissue bonding.

Within the framework of the study, in vitro experiments were carried out on the bonding of biological tissue (chicken meat) by 980 nm laser radiation with the use of bio-solder based on bovine serum albumin and without it. The parameters for the experimental study were the power of laser radiation (P) from 1 to 10 W and the speed of movement of the laser spot along the junction of the connected biological tissues (V) from 0.3 to 6 mm/s.

When evaluating the laser bonding, the depth, width and volume of the coagulated zone around the junction of the connected biological tissues were measured. The dependences of the depth, width and volume of the coagulated zone on the power of laser radiation (P), the speed of movement of the laser spot along the junction of the connected biological tissues (V) and the laser energy expended in this case (SE) are represented.

Also, within the framework of this in vitro study, measurements of the tensile strength of the bonding biological tissue (fragments of chicken meat) formed as a result of exposure to 980 nm radiation from a diode laser were carried out. The tensile strength was understood to be the tensile load applied to the bonding (fragments of chicken meat) and leading to a violation of the integrity of the seam. The graphs of the dependence of the tensile strength of the biological tissue bonding on the power of laser radiation (P) and the speed of movement of the laser spot along the junction of the connected biological tissues (V) are represented.

As a result, it was found that it is preferable to bonding of biological tissue using bio-solder based on bovine serum albumin, and not without it, since this allows you to obtain a stronger connection and reduce the operation time. The highest tensile strength of bonding was achieved at P = 9±0.1 W and V=0.3 ± 0.1 mm/s.
