Change in heat capacity of the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam chain caused by energy localization

Abstract
The influence of discrete breathers (DB) on the macroscopic properties of the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam chain with symmetric and asymmetric single-well potentials is investigated. After analyzing the results obtained, it became clear that DBs reduce the heat capacity in chains with hard anharmonicity, and increase it in chains with soft anharmonicity.
