Abstract
Hematomas and bruises resulted from trauma are very common. There are different treatment techniques such as the R.I.C.E. method (rest, ice, compression, elevation), electro-analgesia, thermotherapy, but these techniques have limited efficacy and substantial healing time. To improve outcomes, phototherapy can be used to expedite healing and improve the appearance of the traumatized tissue. To perform efficient phototherapy, it is essential to determine chromophore composition in hematoma and monitor their concentration during phototherapy. In this study, we demonstrated the effects of phototherapy on bilirubin using spectrophotometry, fluorimetry, and optoacoustics (OA). This research may become an essential step in the development of optimal approaches to hematomas therapy.
