Abstract
Gold nanoantennas are new type of nanoparticles with long spikes and small cores compared to those structural components of conventional nanostars. The surface plasmon resonance of gold nanoantennas can be tuned in the ranges 600–900 (near infrared) and 1100–1600 nm (short wave infrared) by varying the shape and size of spikes. In this work, we investigated the effect of hydrochloric acid on the synthesis of gold nanoantennas. The morphological and optical properties of gold nanoantennas were investigated using electron microscopy and extinction spectroscopy, respectively. It has been found that the addition of hydrochloric acid results in a decrease in the rate of synthesis. This leads to shift of the plasmon resonance and to the change in the shape of the nanoantennas.
