Abstract
Introduction
Calculations of the output characteristics of microwave devices, as a rule, are carried out numerically, such calculations, require large expenditures of computing resources. Simulation of M-type devices requires the simultaneous models of thousands charged particles in crossed fields, therefore, simplified simulation models that can be used in CAD and PALM systems play a special role.
Aim
The aim of the work was to develop a simplified model for calculating the output characteristics of M-type devices in the terahertz frequency range.
Materials and method
A mathematical model of a millimeter-wave magnetron is proposed, and the calculation of its main output characteristics and losses occurring during the generation process such as: skin effect losses, losses conducted with taking into account the electron bombardment of the anode, as well as losses on the cathode. The comparison of the values of the output characteristics and the calculation time of the proposed model and the numerical model of the computational trajectory is carried out.
Results
An approximate adiabatic model of a terahertz magnetron based on the principle of parametric variation of magnetic induction is proposed. In the considered magnetron, the multi-resonator system is replaced by a coaxial resonator, which reduces the stringent requirements for geometric parameters. Comparison of the results of calculations using the adiabatic model with a more rigorous numerical model that takes into account the cycloidal trajectories is carried out. It is shown that the proposed model can be used in the interactive design mode.
Conclusion
An adiabatic model of a millimeter-wave magnetron has been built, which can be used in interactive design systems
