Abstract

Most of the microrganisms are organized in nature as biofilm communities and are more resistant to antimicrobial agents. Sonophotodynamic Therapy is a treatment based on the application of a sensitizer, which is excited by light and ultrasound to produce oxygen reactive species, that are lethal to microrganisms. In this talk, the potential of this new antimicrobial strategy for the inactivation of microbial biofilms will be shown.
