Abstract
A method for crystallization of amorphous silicon coatings on the surface of nonwoven polymeric electrospun mats is proposed. This results in synthesis of nanosized silicon crystallites that fluorescence in visible light. Such nanostructured fluorescent fibrous materials seem promising for applications in biosensing.
