Abstract

The main THz marker in biological tissues and fluids is water, which can be in free and bound states. Each of these states is characterized by its own relaxation time, which contributes to the absorption spectrum exactly in the THz and sub-THz frequency ranges. In this study the influence of bound water on the THz response of healthy rats and in experimental liver cancer 28 days after tumor injection. Various components of blood may have a significant impact on its optical properties, as a result of which the development of pathological conditions causes a change in the total dielectric constant. THz spectroscopy is an additional method for analyzing the dielectric properties of biological fluids to the IR range.
