Abstract

Metasurfaces based on VO2 which properties are switchable by using near IR light or local resistive heating are of great interest for novel sub-THz/THz photonic devices including active filters and THz generators. We report on design and study of a hybrid metasurface with narrow resonance in 0.7-1.3 THz range based on Au bow-tie antennas and VO2 for THz switchable devices. Photothermal effect on substrate induced by THz absorption is characterized by recently developed method based on surface acoustic wave phase shift upon heating of YX-128° cut LiNbO3 crystal.
