Tunneling of wave packets through photonic band-gap structures

Abstract

the problem of tunneling optical quasimonochromatic wave packets through 1D photon crystals in the presence of opacity regions is considered. Only dielectric photonic crystals and photonic crystals with metal layers are considered. The energy transfer rate is obtained. It is shown that the tunneling time in the opacity band is significantly longer than in the transparency band and exceeds the light time, i.e. the time of light movement in the vacuum interval equivalent in length.
