Abstract
In standard geometrization of Maxwell’s electrodynamics, Riemannian space is used. In this approach, the metric is consistent with covariant differentiation. In this case, the connection and metric of a given Riemannian space are symmetric. The Riemannian metric tensor has only 10 components. What is clearly not enough to set the permittivity tensor. It seems that the radical problem of the geometrization of Maxwell electrodynamics can be solved only with the help of Finsler geometry. However, it is of interest to study extensions of classical Riemannian geometry and their influence on the results of the geometrization of Maxwell’s equations. The paper considers a variant of Riemannian geometry with torsion.
