Abstract

The article discusses the stationary mode of waveguide propagation of polarized light in a smoothly irregular thin-film integrated optical waveguide. Two methods are described: cross sections and a small parameter, - of approximate solution of the Maxwell system of equations describing the propagation of electromagnetic radiation. Stable numerical algorithms for finding an approximate solution to the system of equations by both methods are presented. Examples of the propagation of TM- polarized waves in waveguide transitions of the "horn" and "hill" type are considered. A comparative analysis of the results obtained is carried out.
