Excitation of polaritons near resonance by a nanocomposite plate

Yatsyshen Valeriy, Potapova Irina, Verevkina Kseniya

Abstract

An analysis of the excitation of bulk and surface polaritons near the resonance of a plate made of a nanocomposite material formed by noble metal nanoparticles distributed in a dielectric matrix is carried out. Particles of gold and silver were selected as the latter. It is shown that such a nanocomposite acquires the properties of a resonant dielectric, in contrast to metal particles. For this reason, collective excitations — bulk and surface polaritons — can propagate in a nanocomposite material, which carry useful information about the properties of the material. The analysis of the angular and frequency spectra of light reflection from a bulk nanocomposite, as well as from a layered system of nanocomposites
