STUDY OF WOUND HEALING ON HEALTHY AND LYMPHEDEMA TISSUES USING MULTIPHOTON MICROSCOPY

Abstract

Wound healing is a dynamic and complex process of replacing missing cellular structures and tissue layers. Affected of any factors that contribute to delaying wound healing, including diabetes, lymphedema, arterial disease, infection and metabolism deficiency in the elderly.
Multiphoton microscopy (MPM) is a promising method of visualization wound healing. Multiphoton microscopy techniques, specifically autofluorescence (AF), second harmonic generation (SHG) and fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) are effective assessment methods of wound healing because of their high‐resolution, penetration depth, and determining real‐time cellular metabolic activity. This work studies the wound healing process on healthy and lymphedema tissues using multiphoton microscopy techniques: second harmonic generation (SHG), autofluorescence (AF) and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM).
