How to explain the essence of digital signal processing to students of physics
Konstantin A. Grebenyuk, Saratov State University, Russia
Abstract
Present report aims to discuss the series of questions, which arise in the classroom when introducing digital image processing (DSP) to students of physics. Is there any difference between 'digital signal processing' and 'processing digital signals'? Which definitions of the term 'digital signal' can be implemented physically? What examples from physics could illustrate the main idea of DSP? What formulation of the essence of DSP would be the most preferrable from the veiwpoint of physicist?
