Application of ternary number system and ternary logic for microprocessor systems

Abstract

Today computer technologies are indispensable. Computers are used for a variety of tasks ranging from writing a document to a mathematical simulation of reality. The basis of the computer is the microprocessor technology. Therefore, the question of the development of microprocessor technology is extremely important. This question is also very difficult. The search for new ways of development is a real challenge even for the most experienced specialists. But sometimes the new is the forgotten old In this paper it is suggested to discuss the possibilities of using a ternary number system and ternary logic instead of binary. Therefore, the question of the development of microprocessor technology is extremely important. This question is also very difficult. The search for new ways of development is a real challenge even for the most experienced specialists. But sometimes a new one is a forgotten old one. In this paper, it is proposed to discuss the possibilities of using base 3 instead of base 2. More precisely, a ternary system of number and ternary logic instead of binary. The arguments about the expediency of such replacement are given. In addition, the possibility of such a transition by the example of the arithmetic-logic unit is demonstrated.
