Influence of induction treatment on the steel-titanium layered structure for the formation of a highly hard working titanium-oxide surface

Abstract

In the material processing industry, combined materials with a water-resistant and wear-resistant work surface are used. To obtain materials capable of providing high wear resistance readings, high-tech and sophisticated equipment is required. It is also possible to use materials that have a hard base with low wear resistance with a protective coating made of wear-resistant high-hardness material. Therefore, in this work, a method of using resistance welding for applying a coating of VT1-0 titanium on the surface of R6M5 steel is considered, and the subsequent modification of the titanium surface and the entire assembly by high-temperature induction heating during which a high-hardness titanium oxide coating is formed.
