Abstract
In this work we studied the processes of fluorescence quenching of a number of dyes from xanthene, acridine series and alizarin complexone by additives of potassium polytitanate (PPT), titanium dioxide and iodine ions. It has been shown by polarization spectroscopy that dye molecules are efficiently adsorbed by PPT particles. It is shown that the quenching of fluorescence by iodine ions is carried out in a three-molecular complex of the composition: dye-PPT-iodine ions. The dye fluorescence quenching constants are determined using the modified Stern-Volmer equation. It has been established that the process of fluorescence quenching by iodine ions competes with the processes of electron transfer from the dye to the PPT particles.
