On the features of teaching optics for students of geological areas of training and specialties

Larisa A. Romanchenko

Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of teaching optics to students of geological areas of training and specialties. Geological directions and specialties represent a wide range of scientific fields - from oil and gas business and geological exploration technology to technology of processing precious stones and metals. The main difficulty that teachers face when teaching physics and optics as one of its sections, is the formation of the work program of the discipline taking into account the peculiarities of the level of training of students and the requirements for future graduates by employers. Optical research methods are actively used in geology, therefore, their physical foundations should be studied by students in the framework of the "Optics" section, being the basis for further development of special disciplines and practical training. The methodological task, the solution of which is proposed, is to eliminate the inconsistency between the employers' demand for the quality of knowledge of graduates and the traditional approach to teaching optics at the university.
